Snorkeling in Belize right off the Barrier Reef
Belize is superb for a variety of reef experiences. South Water Caye is an island atop the Belize Barrier reef; it is also a Marine Reserve which is 62 square miles. The reserve is home to a variety of fish species, sea turtles, dolphins, patch reefs and mound-like formations. Spur and groove abound throughout the barrier reef making it an ideal spot for snorkelers.
At Blue Marlin Beach Resort, one can snorkel off the beach into the South Water Caye Marine Reserve or take a 5 minutes boat ride from Blue Marlin Beach Resort to the nearby islands within the reserve. Guided snorkeling trips are approximately 1.5 hours long.
